Functions:
❄️Cooling
❄️Soothing/Calming
❄️Pore Care
❄️Oil Control

I normally do not start my sheet mask reviews with the material, fit and adherence of the mask, but I’m going to do that right now, because the material, fit and adherence of this mask are PERFECT, and I just cannot wait to talk about them! 💯👌🙌 I’ve never worn a sheet mask that fit this perfectly. Others that I’ve tried either tented between my eyes, had a hole that was too big for my mouth, or were simply not big enough to cover my big face 😂 Even the fit of the other new Klairs sheet mask wasn’t as good as this (though it was actually also very good). This two-piece mask has a lot of slits, which apparently is intended to fit different face shapes and sizes. I was particularly impressed by the fit and adherence around my nose and mouth, because it covered those areas well. The mask also remained fully adhered to my face the entire time. The recommended masking time was only 10-20 mins, but I was able to wear it for 50 minutes one time and it was still moist when I removed it. As for the material of this mask, it is made of soft rayon sheet with bamboo charcoal powder. It is completely soaked in essence, which made the adherence even better.

Aside from the fantastic sheet mask quality, fit, and adherence, what made my experience with this new Klairs mask even more enjoyable was its subtle cooling effect ☃️❄️ It felt even better when I used it in Baguio after spending the whole day outdoors. So relaxing!😍 [Someone create a sheet-masking emoji, please!]

As its name says, this mask is supposed to calm the skin and “lower overheated skin temperature”, and is recommended to be used after being exposed to the sun’s rays earlier in the day. They launched it just in time for the upcoming summer season in South Korea. I’d say the timing is also perfect for us here in the Philippines, where it’s been scorching hot this summer 🔥 (though it would have been better if they had launched it earlier when summer had just started here 😁).

Aside from cooling and calming “overheated” or inflamed skin due to sun exposure, this mask is also ideal for people whose main concerns are oiliness and blackheads, as two of its key ingredients are Willow Bark extract (a natural BHA) and Tea Tree Leaf Oil (this is second to the last on the ingredient list, though), plus the sheet mask itself contains bamboo charcoal powder. It also has Centella Asiatica Extract, which is the last ingredient. [Suddenly I remember what this mask reminded me of: Naruko Tea Tree Shine Control & Blemish Clear Mask! The texture of the mask, the herbal scent, and the cooling sensation are very similar! The Klairs one has a better fit and adherence, though, and it is more soaked in essence.]

Results

I’ve tried this sheet mask twice already before writing this review, so I’ve seen its consistent results. As I mentioned earlier, I really enjoyed its subtle cooling effect. It’s a great mask to use in Manila’s hot weather, as its essence is lightweight, non-sticky, and easily absorbed. It is hydrating enough, though not as hydrating as the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Tencel Sheet Mask (I made a review about it in a previous post). There’s an immediate brightening effect after removing the mask, which was probably due to the Willow Bark extract’s exfoliating action. Blackheads are not really my concern, so I can’t tell how well this works on them. What does concern me, though, is my acne. And after using this mask, I noticed that the redness of my acne was reduced, and the acne itself shrunk a bit, probably due to the mask’s anti-inflammatory properties. This is the kind of sheet mask I’d like to always have in stock for emergencies (e.g., breakouts, inflamed skin due to sun exposure).

Will I repurchase?

Yes! But if I had only $3 and I will have to choose between this and the other Klairs sheet mask, I’d choose the other one 😁 I like how the Midnight Calming Mask is so refreshing, calming and soothing, but the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Tencel Sheet Mask is actually all that, plus it’s super hydrating and makes my skin so plump and bouncy, and repairs the skin barrier. The only difference is that the Rich Moist Soothing Sheet Mask is not meant for pore care or oil-control, but that doesn’t matter to me because I don’t really have a lot of pore issues and I have my other BHA products (active and toner) for my pores 😅 But if I had $6, okay I’d buy one of each 😂

Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask is available on Wishtrend for $3 each.
