This is already the second time I bought a beauty subscription box (or more aptly, a bag) from Project Vanity, but I wasn’t able to make a review of the first one since I have just started this new blog of mine today. Actually, I have discovered the different subscription boxes in the Philippines only recently and I’m totally psyched about them, so please pardon the minor hoarding. Ha, ha! I used to just watch foreign YouTubers do their beauty subscription unboxing or unbagging, and there I was, just wishfully thinking we also had them here. So just imagine my excitement when I found out that there were already a few beauty subscription boxes available in the Philippines! Online shopping galore! But I’ve come to my senses now. There’s no need to panic buy, really, because I noticed that the subscription boxes released by some companies just keep getting better and better. So even if I’ve missed some boxes, I’m sure there’ll be another one just as good (or even better) that’s yet to be released in the future 😉
So what did I get from Project Vanity’s Wanderlust Kit? I’ll enumerate them from the ones I liked the most to the least. I have already tried them all, so I’ll also be able to give you a mini review of each:
1. Holika Holika Holy Berry Tint in the shade 01, Full Size (P275)
This is my favorite of the bunch! I just knew the moment I tried it on that I would be using this product very often. True enough, this has become my go-to blush these past weeks. I like how it gives me a pretty, natural flush when I go for the no-makeup makeup look – or when I’m simply in a hurry and have no time to do a full-face. It’s a natural-looking lip stain, too. And it smells like strawberries!
The free samples of the Smooth Egg Skin Peeling Gel and Aloe Soothing Gel were not bad, either. The Smooth Egg Skin Peeling Gel was a nice and gentle exfoliant, while the Aloe Soothing Gel, I found, was good for irritated skin around the nose when you have a cold. I should know because I had a bad cold a few weeks ago and when I applied this around my nose area, I found that it was so soothing, indeed.
2. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil (part of the Nuxe Essential Sample Set valued at P1,170)
I fell in love with this beauty oil the first time I used it on my face. Even before the sample I got ran out, I already purchased the full size! (And I’m going to write of review of that soon!) The other Nuxe samples were also good, like the cleansing gel and moisturizers, but this Dry Oil really stood out. This product is amazing. It makes my skin look dewy and healthy, like those of Korean stars! Talk about #SkinGoals. Surprisingly, it doesn’t look or feel too oily on my skin. I’m just not a big fan of the vintage scent, because it reminds me of my grandmother (not that it’s a bad thing to be reminded of my grandma, but I just don’t want to smell like her. Ha, ha!).
3. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in the shade Petunia, Full Size (P750)
This looks great on top of the Holika Holika tint, and I love how it keeps my lips soft and moisturized. I know it’s supposed to be a stand-alone product since it’s a tinted lip balm, but somehow the color doesn’t show up on my lips, maybe because the Petunia shade is a little too light for medium skin tones.
4. Cover Girl Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach, Full Size (P395)
This powder blush has a beautiful peachy pink color with a silvery sheen. It’s perfect for summer. I bet this would look good with bright coral lipsticks!
5. Mary Kay Cityscape Eu De Parfum 2mL samples (Complimentary)
I think I got two of these in my kit by mistake or maybe PV was feeling generous. Either way, I’m glad they included these in the bag because it has a nice daytime scent I’d love to wear everyday. It reminds me of cool mornings in Tagaytay.
6. Max Factor Clump Defy Mascara, Full Size (P795)
Yes, it can separate, lengthen, and volumize lashes, but sadly, it cannot do the most important thing: hold a curl. I have other mascaras that can do a great job, and they are cheaper, too. I also don’t like the way it smells. Hehe. Sorry, Max Factor, but this really didn’t work for my stick-straight lashes (which I curled using an eyelash curler, before applying the mascara). I’m just not sure if it works better for people with naturally-curled lashes.
7. Christian Eyebrow/Eyeliner Pencil, Full Size (P495)
This pencil is too soft and creamy for my liking. I want my brows to look as natural as possible, but this pencil made my brows look like they had really been drawn on. I tried to use it as an eyeliner, but when I smudged it out for a smoky effect, it literally vanished like smoke. Honestly, I have yet to find a use for this product. But I don’t think I’d be reaching out for it again anytime soon.
Toffee Beige sling bag (P700)
This bag is a perfect match for my nude pumps! I love it! I like the simple yet classy design that could go with a casual to a smart casual ensemble.
The overall value of the Project Vanity Wanderlust Kit is P3,880, but I paid only P1,450! As of this writing, the kit is still available on their website: Project Vanity.com
All in all, I love this Project Vanity Wanderlust Kit. I went to Tagaytay a few weeks ago for an overnight event, and this kit really came in handy. Apparently, PJ knows the bare essentials for travel. Great skin + minimal makeup is key 😉
